چکیده

We investigate the ability of feedback-error-learning (FEL) algorithm through applying it to training a pan-tilt camera head for pursuing a moving target. Although the task of pursuit eye movement is re BLOCKINective and the control has a relatively large delay, our experiments show that the camera head can successfully acquire the skill of pursuit eye movement. Our experimental results also show that the performance of the learning highly depends on the gain parameter of the feedback controller module. The system sometimes oscillates or breaks down when we use the optimal feedback controller (large gain in general), because of over-training-like p h e n o m-ena. If the gain is too small, the performance is not improved by learning, though the system is stable. Those results suggest the large possibility of FEL algorithm as well as the importance of the design of feedback module.

Study on a Pan - tilt Control Technique for the Airship Camera Orientation

A pan-tilt control technique for the camera orientation of the airship is proposed. This technique is constructed by combining the airship states and the error of the image centre as a feedback. For the ground target coordinates testing system installed in airship, a two dimension pan-tilt is used to drive the camera tracking the ground target in order to catch the image of the measured target ...

Layered Architecture for the Control of Micro Saccadic Tracking of a Stereo Camera Head

The paper describes a 3-layered architecture for the control of the stereoscopic eye-saccade system of a stereo-camera head 1 mounted on an autonomous vehicle. The 0-level is a proportional feedback controller providing a microsaccadic 2 control for eye movements enabling the head to foveate and track targets but requiring iteration through the vision system with the attendant computational ove...

Indoor PTZ Camera Calibration with Concurrent PT Axes

The introduction of active (pan-tilt-zoom or PTZ) cameras in Smart Rooms in addition to fixed static cameras allows to improve resolution in volumetric reconstruction, adding the capability to track smaller objects with higher precision in actual 3D world coordinates. To accomplish this goal, precise camera calibration data should be available for any pan, tilt, and zoom settings of each PTZ ca...

Bionics-Based Approach for Object Tracking to Implement in Robot Applications

In this paper, an approach for object tracking that is inspired from human oculomotor system is proposed and verified experimentally. The developed approach divided into two phases, fast tracking or saccadic phase and smooth pursuit phase. In the first phase, the field of the view is segmented into four regions that are analogue to retinal periphery in the oculomotor system. When the object of ...

Learning in Robot Vision Directed Reaching: A Comparison of Methods

Four neural network algorithms were examined for their ability to adaptively associate stereo camera coordinates with joint positions of a three degree of freedom manipulator arm in a 3D reaching task. Given reasonable numbers of training exemplars for an implementation in real hardware, all networks trained to significant errors. Two secondary error correction procedures were then tested. Both...
